Lalique’in kristal zürafa heykeli, René
Magritte’in 1946’da Paul Éluard’ın şiiri-
ni resmetmek için yaptığı *The Cut-Glass
Bath*’dan esinleniyor. Empresyonizmden
etkilenen Magritte’in eserinin amacı, savaş
sonrası döneme neşe ve renk getirmekti.
Lalique’in kristali, zımparalanmış ve ci-
lalanmış yüzeylerin ustalıkla bir araya ge-
tirilmesi ile Magritte’in stilini yakalıyor ve
ressamın “Renoir dönemini” ışıltılı, zarif
bir zürafa ile yansıtıyor. Heykel, büyük bo-
yutu ve zarafeti ile orijinal resmin güncel
bir temsilcisi niteliğinde.
The Lalique crystal sculpture of a giraffe is
inspired by René Magritte’s gouache, *The
Cut-Glass Bath*, created in 1946 to illus-
trate Paul Éluard’s poetry. Magritte’s work,
influenced by Impressionism, aimed to bring
joy and color to the post-war era. Lalique’s
crystal captures Magritte’s style with a mas-
terful blend of sanded and polished surfaces,
reflecting the painter’s “Renoir period” with
a gleaming, docile giraffe. The sculpture
mirrors the original painting’s effect, with its
oversized glass creating a similar impression
of scale and elegance.
